The man who allegedly beheaded a 15-year-old female student in Valencia City, Bukidnon reportedly admitted that he raped the victim first before killing her.
The 29-year-old suspect was arrested and reportedly told authorities that he killed the victim on January 6, 2026 at a sugarcane plantation in Sitio Sinait, Barangay Dagat-Kidavao.
The suspect gave an extra-judicial confession in the presence of his lawyer at the Valencia City Police Station.
Shiela Jangad, said.
Investigators have requested that the suspect undergo a drug test. They added that he was reportedly not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
The victim was reported missing on January 6 after she failed to return home from school. She was found dead on January 8, 2026.
Police added that the suspect initially resisted arrest and allegedly attacked a member of the barangay peacekeeping action team (BPAT). He also allegedly hurdled something at a military checkpoint upon fleeing.
Police said the suspect surrendered to a tribal leader, and negotiations lasted several hours before he agreed to surrender to authorities.
Authorities said the P200,000 reward offered by the local government helped in identifying and arresting the suspect.
The suspect is now detained and will face murder charges.
