Nearly 6,000 security personnel will be deployed to ensure peace and order in the celebration of the Dinagyang Festival 2026.
According to the Security Task Group (STG) Dinagyang 2026, at least 3,800 of the security force are police personnel. The 2,000 will be composed of force multipliers from various agencies, and volunteers.
The deployment of security personnel will start on January 21, 2026. Along with the deployment is a reminder to the public to avoid bringing prohibited objects and substances at the venue of events such as guns, backpack, bladed and sharp objects, liquor, and even drones.
“Ipagbabawal natin na magpalipad kung personal lang natin at hindi nakipag-coordinate sa STG at walang kaukulang clearance,” said Major Shella Mae Sangrines, spokesperson of STG Dinagyang 2026.
The gun ban takes effect from dawn on January 15 to January 25.
“Continuous ang ating mga police operations including checkpoints. It’s part of our security measures na rin,” Major Lailyn Sencil, spokesperson of Police Regional Office 6, said.
Further, police reminded the public to abide by rules and regulations, based on ordinances imposed in Iloilo City, such as no smoking, no littering, among others.
