A female student in Bacolod City fell victim to sexual harassment while she was walking by the roadside in broad daylight.

A video showed that the girl in school uniform was walking on the sidewalk. Later, a man on board a motorcycle talked with the girl. His face is obscured by the crash helmet he is wearing.

While talking to the girl, he kissed her suddenly. The girl said that the man also hugged her and touched her privates. However, it is not clear in the CCTV video whether she was indeed touched on the private parts.

The video was captured near the hall of Barangay 17 in Bacolod City.

“Huminto siya at sinabihan akong kilala daw niya sina mama at papa. Maya-maya pa, bigla na lang niya akong hinalikan at niyakap. Tinitigan ko siya, parang wala naman akong kakilalang ganito (lalaki),” alias “Inday,” the victim, said.

The incident incensed the mother of the victim.

“Nanginginig talaga, na-trauma ang anak ko. Masakit para sa akin na kanyang ina na ginanun nya ang anak ko. Alam mo sir, matindi ang pag-iingat ko sa aking anak,” said alias “Tintin,” the mother.

She reported immediately the incident to the police.

“Na-identify itong suspect past three days na at ipinaco-confirm pa namin sa victim,” according to Major Eugene Tolentino, chief of the Bacolod City Police Station 2.

The police added that the rider caught on video may have been the same person who has similar complaints in other barangays.

The barangay vowed to help the mother coordinate for the psychological first aid for the victim.

“Sa DSSD, DSWD mabibigyan ng pamamaraan. Ga-gather kami ng parents to learn and teach sa ganitong mga kaso," said Barangay 17 Chairman Roger Pabiana.
