A utility worker at a school in Sogod, Southern Leyte survived the bite of the venomous king cobra.
Alias “Jose,” 35 years old, is a utility worker at the Southern Leyte State University – Main Campus in Sogod.
According to Leo Alvarez Omamalin, supervising administrative officer of the university, alias “Jose” was cleaning up a grassy area of the campus when a king cobra bit him.
He sought immediate help and was assisted by staff members of the school.
Omamalin said that the victim was rushed to the Eastern Visayas Medical Center in Tacloban City, Leyte which has a supply of anti-venom in the entire Region 8.
The hospital has taken custody of the dead king cobra.
Following the incident, the university issued a precautionary advisory on snake encounter, or snake spotting, and to coordinate immediately with the Health Services Office.
