The number of employees reported missing following the landfill incident in Barangay Binaliw, Cebu City on January 8, 2026 has decreased to 17, according to the Cebu City Government based on the latest update from the Incident Command Post (ICP).
"Initial reports indicate that the reduction in the number of missing individuals follows the recovery of several bodies at the site today, January 14, 2026. With these recoveries, the confirmed death toll has now risen to 19," said Cebu City News in a post.
In addition, 18 individuals sustained injuries and are confined currently in hospitals.
Search and rescue operations are still ongoing, based on instruction from Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival.
