At least 78 volcano-tectonic (VT) earthquakes were recorded on Mount Kanlaon in Negros Island within a 24-hour observation period.

According to the January 15, 2026 advisory of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the volcanic earthquakes were observed from 12 a.m. on January 14 to 12 a.m. on January 15.

A weak emission drifted south.

Sulfur dioxide flux reached 1,496 tons as of January 14. 

The volcano edifice remains inflated.

Alert Level 2 prevails over Mount Kanlaon, which means that the volcano is in a state of increased unrest.
