The fluvial procession on Saturday, January 17, 2026 will push through despite the threats of inclement weather, according to Coast Guard Central Cebu.
Officials of state weather bureau PAGASA, in the Visayas, and the Philippine Coast Guard Central Cebu converged morning on Thursday, January 15, for a meeting.
According to Captain Jerome Lozada, commander of Coast Guard Central Cebu, the weather disturbance would not directly affect Cebu.
The number of participants to the Fluvial Procession 2026 for the 461st Fiesta Señor has increased.
Based on Coast Guard list, at least 136 ships and 256 motorbancas registered for the event, or a total of 392 of sea vessels, which is higher compared to the 329 vessels that joined in 2025.
To avoid mishaps at sea, such as possible collision of motorbancas that will try to go after the “galleon,” the official ship that will carry on board the image of the Señor Santo Niño, it was agreed that all motorbancas will not be allowed at the Mactan Channel.
Instead, motorbancas will have to wait at the waters in the vicinity of a hotel at the South Road Properties.
Ships will also be prohibited from docking at Cebu City ports from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. on January 17.
Participants are reminded to follow rules and regulations religiously to help maintain peace and order, and to allow participants to enjoy the event and experience the solemnity.
