The images of the Señor Santo Niño and the Virgin of Guadalupe reached the border of Cebu City (Barangay Mabolo) and Mandaue City (Barangay Subangdaku) past 8 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026, where the image of Saint Joseph was waiting.

The Traslacion of the Holy Family proceeded to the National Shrine of Saint Joseph in Barangay Centro, Mandaue City.

The warm welcome expressed by devotees lining up at the roadside is apparent.

Rosa Tamayo and her granddaughter, Abaya, are among the devotees who were by the roadside early on, so as not to miss the Traslacion, or the act of moving the images in a visit.

Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival handed over the image of the Holy Child and the Virgin of Guadalupe to Mandaue City Mayor Jonkie Ouano, after which the Traslacion of the Sagrada Familia (Holy Family) proceeded.

Along the route, other devotees mounted improvised altars where they displayed their images of the Señor Santo Niño.

The images of the Holy Family arrived at the shrine by 9:20 a.m.

A Welcome Mass followed shortly.

According to Police Col. Cirilo Acosta Jr., director of Mandaue City Police Office, devotees who waited along the route and those who joined the Traslacion reached approximately 20,000.

The figure is higher compared to the 17,000 devotees recorded in 2025.

Police pointed out that the fine weather is a factor in the increase of devotees and spectators along the route.
