Local Government Units (LGUs) in Cebu Province announced suspension of classes due to Tropical Storm Ada (international name: Nokaen), as of 8 a.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026.
According to the Cebu Provincial Information Office, these LGUs are: San Remigio, Municipality of Bantayan, Catmon, Sogod, Tabuelan, Compostela, Tabogon, Bogo City, Cordova, Medellin, Daanbantayan, and Carmen.
Areas in Eastern Visayas have announced the suspension of classes and sea voyages due to the possible effects of #AdaPH.
Classes in the Province of Northern Samar are suspended on January 16.
By noontime on January 15, Governor Harris Ongchuan ordered the suspension of classes at all levels in Northern Samar due to TD Ada.
Classes at all levels, both public and private, and work in schools of Kawayan Districts I and II, Municipality of Kawayan, Province of Biliran are suspended due to #AdaPH, effective January 15 until lifted.
This was announced by Vice Mayor Jake Espina with an attached Executive Order (EO) and shared on Biliran Province page on Facebook.
In addition, classes in all levels, both public and private, across the entire Province of Eastern Samar are suspended effective 1 p.m. on January 15 until January 16.
Governor Ralph Vincent Evardone ordered the suspension based on PAGASA advisory that placed Eastern Samar under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1, with heavy rainfall expected that could reach 50-100 mm on January 15 and 16, and "possibly intensify in the coming days, posing risks of flooding and other hazards."
