Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vivencio (Vince) Dizon has ordered a third-party assessment of the stalled Aganan Flyover in Pavia, Iloilo to ensure its integrity ahead of its planned opening to motorists this year, said a GMA News Online report.

According to the DPWH, Dizon has ordered the tapping of a third-party foreign consultant to assess the structure, which will serve as an alternative route to motorists passing through the Felix Gorriceta Jr. Avenue. and Benigno S. Aquino Jr. Avenue to avoid congestion in the area.

The flyover is among the priority projects of the DPWH this year, with the department targeting completion before 2026 ends.

Its regional office, however, flagged uncertainties due to its funding as it needs an additional P285 million for the jet grounding and road widening, the report added.

Dizon last week said the administration will ramp up infrastructure spending this year, after corruption concerns — particularly involving flood control projects — slowed disbursements and weighed on economic growth over the past two quarters, the report also said.
