A 14-year-old boy was found dead at the Matina Pangi River in Davao City on Sunday, January 18, 2026.
According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, police said the victim was believed to have been submerged for around 24 hours, as his body was already in a state of decomposition when found.
No indication of foul play was found, based on investigation.
Authorities also found a white shirt, jogging pants, and slippers near the area, which were believed to belong to the victim.
A 54-year-old man identified as alias “Roland,” a resident of Catalunan Grande, went to the area and identified the victim as his son.
It was learned that on Friday, January 16, a group of minors were reportedly playing and jumping into the river, with the victim believed to be among them.
