Customers of the Davao Light and Power Co. (Davao Light) are set to experience an increase in the overall residential electricity rate in January 2026.

In an advisory, Davao Light said the January 2026 rate is P11.7187 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), which is P2.0052/kWh higher than the P9.7135/kWh in December 2025 rate.

The power utility said the increase is due to higher power supply prices from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) caused by several power plant outages in the previous month.

Davao Light added that the implementation of the new government charge, the Green Energy Auction Allowance (GEA-All) under the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) dated December 26, 2025, also contributed to the overall increase.

“Davao Light remits generation charges to power suppliers, while government-mandated fees are forwarded to the appropriate state agencies,” Davao Light said.

Davao Light said the increase in power rates applies to bills received from January 11 to February 10, 2026.

Power consumers are urged to manage their electricity use efficiently.
