A 41-year-old man brandished a machete, chased his fellow tricycle drivers, caught up with one of them, and hacked him.

The incident happened Sunday morning, January 18, 2026 in the vicinity of a market in San Jose, Negros Oriental.

It was learned that the 46-year-old victim is recuperating at a hospital in Sibulan town. He is a resident of Barangay Tapon Norte, San Jose.

According to police investigation, the suspect and his fellow drivers bickered over passengers.

The suspect got furious, brandished a machete, and chased his fellow drivers.

GMA Regional TV News Balitang Bisdak tried to seek a comment from the suspect who is placed in the custody of the San Jose Municipal Police Station.

Meanwhile, three individuals were rescued after the pumpboat they boarded on submerged in the waters of Barangay Santo Niño, San Jose afternoon on January 18, 2026.

Based on police investigation, the pumpboat was from Barangay Campaclan, Sibulan on its way to San Jose.

Members of Bantay Dagat rescued the three individuals, including a woman.
