A 38-year-old massage attendant in Lapu-Lapu City who was first reported to have died from a heart attack may have died from domestic violence. 

The massage attendant was identified as Lalane Pogado Torremocha.

Her siblings cried foul after finding a wound and contusions on her body.

Lalane sustained a wound on the eye and contusions on the neck, on the right hand, among other parts of her body. 

Siblings took a video of the said wound and contusions.

It was Lalane's live-in partner who informed the woman's siblings of her death due to alleged heart attack. However, her siblings raised doubts on the live-in partner’s statement. They surmised there is possible foul play in the incident that they want the police to delve into. 

Prior to taking the body to the funeral homes on January 19, 2026, from Purok Mahogany in Barangay Poblacion, personnel of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) inspected the house where Lalane and her live-in partner were staying. 

Operatives gathered pieces of evidence that would help establish the real cause of Lalane's death. The Regional Forensic Unit visited the site once more on January 20, 2026.

According to Wilfred Torremocha, Lalane's younger brother, they learned from her friends and neighbors that Lalane has been battered by her live-in partner due to money matters. The live-in partner would allegedly get furious if Lalane has no money to give.

Further, a message that Lalane sent to her son reads that whatever happens to her, her family should look for her live-in partner, Ariel Magdasoc.

In an interview with GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak, Magdasoc denied vehemently the accusation on domestic violence that caused Lalane's death.

He also denied a report that it took a while for him to report the incident to the authorities.

He said he made sure he would communicate first with Lalane's siblings and son on the woman’s death.

According to Police Captain Edcel Petecio, public information officer of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, that while Magdasoc can be considered as a person of interest, based on the wound and contusions on Lalane’s body, they would have to wait for the autopsy results first.
