A 23-year-old man who was attending a fiesta celebration in Claveria, Misamis Oriental was stabbed to death.

Police identified the victim as Kent Abregana, a resident of Barangay Poblacion.

Based on investigation, the incident occurred after the victim played basketball with residents of Sitio Tulayas.

Investigators added that when the victim mounted his motorcycle to head to a house nearby where they were celebrating the fiesta, the 18-year-old suspect allegedly approached him and stabbed him in the back three times.

The victim did not reach the hospital alive

“Naay balay nga ilang gi-identify na daan nga didto sila maniudto duol ra pud sa basketball court kay baklayon man ang balay. Ang nahitabo gisundan aning suspek nga si Jimboy dayon gidunggab diretso sa likod katulo ka higayon,” Claveria Municipal Police Station Chief, Capt. Rodel Labadan, said.

Authorities launched an investigation, which resulted in the arrest of the suspect who reportedly owned up to the crime.

“Atong gamay pa siya pag-muanhi kuno siya sa lungsod sa Claveria kay manan-aw dula ug basketball gasumbagon kuno siya pero sa among tan-aw murag dili katuohan basin na alaan lang siguro,” Labadan added.

The suspect is facing murder charges.
