Authorities seized more than ₱8 million worth of smuggled cigarettes during a search warrant operation in Labrador, Pangasinan, as part of a joint crackdown on illegal goods.
The Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and the Bureau of Customs (BOC) conducted the operation on January 21, 2026, in Barangay Poblacion.
Officers intercepted a closed van truck at a checkpoint and found more than 100 boxes of smuggled cigarettes during inspection.
In total, authorities confiscated over 5,000 reams of illegal cigarettes.
Two Chinese nationals were arrested in the operation, including a 40-year-old driver who is a resident of Sampaloc, Manila, and his 44-year-old companion.
The seized contraband was turned over to the Bureau of Customs for the filing of appropriate charges against the suspects.
