At least 114 families were displaced after a fire hit a residential area in Barangay Saray, Iligan City.

According to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the fire broke out past 3 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026, and was raised to fourth alarm.

The fire was put out before 11 p.m.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire and the cost of damage.

The local government said at least 63 houses were destroyed while 17 others were damaged. At least 24 families who are sharers or living with relatives and 10 families who are renters were also affected.

Most of the survivors are staying temporarily at the Saray Gymnasium, which serves as the evacuation center.

Authorities have set up modular tents to ensure comfort, privacy, and security of their personal belongings.

The local government also deployed a mobile kitchen to provide meals for the families affected.

The families affected were also given medical and other necessary assistance, including food packs.
