Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Acting Director, Col. Mannan Muarip, retained his post after the change of command was aborted during the ceremony on Friday, January 23, 2026.

Mannan, who served as the top official of DCPO for six months, was supposed to be relieved and had already signed a relinquishment of office.

According to the Police Regional Office-Davao (PRO-11), the supposed replacement was part of regular assignments and reassignments of officers.

Muarip bid farewell and extended his gratitude to DCPO personnel and stakeholders during the ceremony.

PRO-11 Regional Operations Division chief, Col. Peter Madria, who was supposed to replace Muarip, had already signed his assumption of office and laid down his programs and projects for DCPO.

However, when the DCPO flag was about to be turned over to the new chief to mark his official assumption of office, the presiding officer, Brigadier General Mariano Rodriguez, PRO-11 Deputy Regional Director for Administration, received a call to cancel the change of command.

“To both of you pareho naman tayong magkakaibigan, at we are working with the pleasure of our commanders, our bosses there. Pansamantala tayo ay hihinto sa ating programa because we have to follow the orders coming from the higher headquarters,” Rodriguez said.

Muarip and Madria were ordered to retain their current positions.

“Magagaling pareho, wala tayong pinapanigan because na prove na nila ang kanilang galing sa kanya-kanyang larangan. I got the instruction from our Regional Director na we have to follow the orders,” Rodriguez added.
