Over 350,000 individuals attended Dinagyang-related activities in Iloilo City, based on data from the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6.
Residents and tourists did not just come for the highlight events of the Dinagyang Festival 2026 such as the "Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan," Dinagyang Tribes Competition, fluvial and solemn foot processions, and the religious “sadsad” (merrymaking), but also for the side events of the festival.
The festival was considered a success because of the stringent security measures imposed.
In a closing ceremony on Monday morning, January 26, 2026, PRO 6 and the Iloilo City Government thanked over 7,000 police personnel and force multipliers who were deployed to maintain peace and order during the celebration.
“We have no major incidents or significant incidents that transpired within the period of Dinagyang,” Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan, PRO 6 director, said.
During the highlights of the Dinagyang Festival, the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) logged a few petty crimes. Two persons reportedly from Malate, Manila were nabbed for alleged theft of a cellphone and cash at a bar in Barangay San Rafael, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
Despite the incident, crime incidents during the Dinagyang Festival 2026 decreased compared to incidents in 2025.
“We recorded last year eight (8), ngayon nasa three (3) lang. Mga focused crimes yun, karamihan is theft,” Ligan added.
At pedestrian screening areas of festival sites, prohibited items were confiscated. According to the ICPO, most of the banned items are lighters, vapes and e-cigarettes, ballpens, cutters, cigarettes, and other bladed and sharp objects.
The Iloilo City Government has thanked the police force as leads in maintaining peace, order, and security during the festival.
“Kahit saan kami pumupunta, siguradong malayo sa kaguluhan at meron kaming malalapitan in case mangangailangan kami ng tulong. And that confidence of safety, nagmula yan sa inyo. Salamat po,” said City Councilor Lyndon Acap.
