Over 5,000 personnel have been deployed to secure peace and order during the meetings of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Cebu.
Prior to the series of meetings of the ASEAN Tourism Forum, a send-off ceremony of personnel of security forces took place on January 24, 2026.
The ceremony was carried out at the South Road Properties (SRP) in Cebu City.
Personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CCDRRMO), health workers, traffic enforcers and staff members, and other force multipliers comprise the security forces.
The personnel received blessing from a priest prior to the deployment.
According to the PNP, at least 7,000 will secure the meetings to ensure peace and order.
"Patuloy ang pag-implement sa gun ban hanggang July 31 tuloy ang gun ban. Magkakaroon tayo ng strong visibility sa ating paligid sa Cebu City, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu area and some parts of Cebu Province kung saan magkakaroon ng tour activities ang ating delegates," according to Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan, Police Regional Office 7 director.
