Authorities have recovered in Buhangin, Davao City at least 23 Japanese vintage bombs believed to have been used during World War II.
Personnel of the 3rd Explosive Ordnance Disposal Platoon, Philippine Army and Task Force Davao, AFP K9 and the National Bureau of Investigation-Davao (NBI-11) retrieved the explosives in Purok Balite.
According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, authorities said the bombs weigh a total of 32 kilos and are believed to have originated from the Japanese Navy and were used during World War II.
Authorities maintained that the bombs posed a significant danger to the community, which was why they were retrieved carefully.
The bombs recovered are currently under the custody of the Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Battalion for disposition.
