A passenger bus and a closed van figured in a collision past 8 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at the national highway in Poblacion Ilaya, Cuartero, Capiz.

According to the Cuartero Police, the passenger bus driven by alias “Nilo” was bound for Iloilo while the closed van driven by alias "Bert" was headed for Cuartero Proper.

Both drivers sustained injuries due to the intensity of the impact.

The van driver’s “pahinante” (assistant) is also reported as injured.

As of this writing, the authorities are yet to determine the number of bus passengers hurt in the incident.

However, based on the record of the “konduktor” (bus fare collector), passengers reached around 30.

The police are set to get a copy of the dashboard camera (dashcam) footage from the bus management to help determine liability for the collision.

Injured persons are receiving treatment at different hospitals in Capiz, as of posting time.
