A man was shot dead after motorcycle-riding gunmen robbed him and his companions while they were traversing the national highway in Mawab, Davao de Oro evening on Tuesday, January 28, 2026.

Police identified the victim as alias “Novem,” a resident of Barangay Kinamayan, Davao del Sur.

According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, Novem and a fellow truck helper were on board the vehicle traveling to Tagum City from Trento, Agusan del Sur.

Based on investigation, the suspects reportedly blocked the truck. The suspect riding in pillion who was wearing a jacket with a shawl concealing his face disembarked and pointed a gun at the driver and his helpers.

Out of fear, the truck driver and his helpers tried to escape, but the suspect fired shots, hitting Novem, who died on the spot.

Authorities recovered three empty shells of caliber .45 pistol and more than P100,000 in cash from the crime scene.

Police are still investigating the incident to identify the suspects and determine the motive.
