Two riders were killed in separate road accidents in Misamis Oriental.

Video footage showed a rider traveling the national highway in Barangay Katipunan, Villanueva town when a speeding 10-wheeler truck crashed into the motorcycle before veering off toward the roadside.

The truck also ran over the motorcycle and the rider, which resulted in the rider’s death.

Police said the truck may have lost its brakes, causing it to crash into the motorcycle.

“So mura’g nawad-an ni siya og brake, naghaguros padulong adto sa koral sa dako pud nga company dinhi sa Villanueva dadto siya nabanda,” Villanueva Municipal Police Station Chief, Major Princess Bergado, said.

Meanwhile, another rider died on the spot after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a van in Poblacion 1, Villanueva.

Based on investigation, the motorcycle reportedly overshot and crashed into the van.

The impact threw the rider into a tree by the road.

“Among giadtuan naa na pud didto ang taga V-Alert and gi-try nila og resuscitate ang driver sa motor tungod sa injuries nga iyang na-sustain, sad to say nakabsan gyud siya sa iyang kinabuhi,” Bergado said.

The van driver was taken into police custody after the incident but was released later after both parties reportedly reached an agreement.
