A woman who allegedly posed as a dentist was arrested in an entrapment operation in Barangay Ampayon, Butuan City.

According to the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit-Northern Mindanao (RACU-10), the suspect allegedly offered affordable dental services, including braces.

The suspect allegedly performed dental services inside her house, which alarmed the Philippine Dental Association-Butuan Chapter.

“Barato ra iyang offer unya inviting siya kay naa may post online nga ingon ani ang result kung magpataod sa iya. Usually, atong gakakita, maski nationwide ang uban, naa ra sa balay naa lang usa ka kwarto dili siya dental clinic gyud ang itsura,” RACU-13 Chief, Col. Lemuel Gonda, said.

Authorities said the suspect failed to present documents to prove she is a licensed dentist.

The operating team also recovered various dental equipment believed to have been used in her operation.

The suspect is now under the custody of RACU-13 and may face charges for violation of the Philippine Dental Act (RA 9484).

“Before nato gi-operate ato ni gi-verify sa Philippine Dental Association, usa pud sa ilang miyembro ang nagreklamo at the same time sa Philippine Regulation Commission kung naa pa siya’y license kung naa ba gyud siya anang duha,” Gonda said.
