A youth leader was shot dead while inside a pickup truck parked by the road in Barangay Magugpo East, Tagum City, Davao del Norte on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, the suspects riding a motorcycle reportedly pulled alongside the victim’s vehicle and shot him several times, based on initial investigation.

Authorities are still investigating the incident to identify the assailants and determine the motive.

Vice Mayor Eva Lorraine Estabillo condemned the incident in a Facebook post.

“This violent and unlawful act is a grave crime and a direct violation of the law. Such an act has no place in Tagum City, a city that upholds the sanctity of life, public order, and justice. Violence in any form will never be tolerated, especially when it is used to silence those who stand for principle and service,” Estabillo said.

Estabillo described the victim as someone who fearlessly fought for what he believed in.

“Despite the challenges and risks that came with standing firm on his principles, Lister remained steadfast in his commitment to serve and to speak for what he believed was right. His courage and dedication will not be forgotten by the community he served,” Estabillo added.

The vice mayor called on authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident to ensure that perpetrators will be brought to justice.

“Justice must be served without delay or hesitation. I call on the public to cooperate fully with authorities and to report only credible information,” Estabillo said.
