The Land Transportation Office-Davao (LTO-11) has suspended the license of the taxi driver who allegedly harassed his female student passenger in Davao City.
Aside from the issuance of a show cause order, LTO-11 imposed a 90-day preventive suspension on the driver’s license while investigation into the incident continues.
In her social media post, the student said she rode the taxi to head home from school on January 20, 2026 when the driver initiated a conversation that later turned inappropriate.
The student claimed that the driver made offensive remarks about her body and asked personal questions about her private life, escalating eventually to explicit sexual remarks and propositions.
The taxi driver and the operator appeared before the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-Davao (LTFRB-11) during a scheduled hearing.
During the hearing, LTO-11 Director Nonito Llanos III said authorities will not tolerate violations committed by public utility drivers, particularly those involving the Safe Spaces Act.
LTO-11 said the driver may face additional penalties, and the taxi operator could be held liable, as operators are accountable for the actions of their drivers.
