Authorities have formed two teams to investigate the disappearance of motorbanca Amejara in the Davao Gulf.
One team, composed of five members, is tasked with marine safety investigation, which aims to produce factual findings and safety recommendations to prevent similar maritime incidents in the future.
On the other hand, the incident investigation team, composed of seven parallel investigators, will focus on administrative and criminal liability.
The teams will also look into why Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental was the vessel’s destination and its last known position, even though the vessel was operating under a Davao-Samal route franchise.
A week after the termination of search and rescue operations, both teams are expected to submit their reports.
Meanwhile, authorities have expanded search efforts beyond Sarangani waters to Zamboanga.
Clearance has already been secured to conduct overflight search and rescue missions in Indonesian waters.
Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao Commander, Commodore Philipps Soria, confirmed that on the 12th day of the search, debris including cabin doors and life jackets from the vessel were recovered.
