A motorcycle thief sprayed gasoline at a policeman in Negros Oriental.

The incident happened evening on February 2, 2026 in the Municipality of Amlan.

A CCTV footage of a gasoline station showed that a man arrived at the area. In another angle, the man was seen to have grabbed the gas pump nozzle and sprayed fuel on the pavement.

When gas station personnel tried to stop him, he sprayed gasoline at them but missed. Seconds later, a policeman arrived at the scene. The man also sprayed gas at the cop and hit him.

Grappling between the suspect and the policeman ensued. Another policeman arrived and helped in the arrest of the 29-year-old suspect, a resident of the Municipality of San Jose.

According to the San Jose Municipal Police Station, the man is a suspect in a motorcycle theft incident in Barangay Tapon Norte, San Jose.

Based on police investigation, the suspect attempted to stab the owner of the motorcycle.

Police Staff Sergeant PJ Adam Caparas and Police Corporal Rohenio Carbo responded immediately to the incident.

The stolen motorcycle was recovered from the suspect.

Charges for carnapping and resistance and disobedience to agents of person in authority will be filed against the suspect.

GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak tried to seek a comment from the suspect who is detained at the San Jose Municipal Police Station.

Meanwhile, according to Police Captain Renette Joy Jumuad, chief of San Jose Municipal Police Station, Carbo’s condition is being monitored. The responding policeman was hit on the face with gasoline in the spraying incident.
