The Cebu Provincial Government suspended classes at all levels in both public and private schools under its jurisdiction on Thursday, February 5, 2026 due to Tropical Storm Basyang.
Acting Governor Glenn Anthony Soco issued the order, which "supports the earlier class suspension declarations made by 46 local government units."
Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro has decided to cut her official trip to China short and will return to Cebu within the day, according to the Cebu Provincial Information Office.
The Province of Negros Oriental also suspended classes at all levels in both public and private schools on February 5 and Friday, February 6 due to the said tropical cyclone expected to affect the Visayas Regions and Negros Island Region.
Negros Oriental Governor Manuel (Chaco) Sagarbarria signed Executive Order No. 19, Series of 2026, on the said cancellation of classes.
