Authorities have implemented forced evacuations in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur and Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental due to the possible effects of Tropical Storm #BasyangPH.
Tandag City Mayor Roxanne Pimentel issued an order on Thursday, February 5, 2026, directing the forced evacuation of residents in high-risk areas within the city.
The forced evacuation applies to all residents in coastal and shoreline areas vulnerable to strom surge, low-lying and flood-prone communities, areas near riverbanks and waterways, and landslide-susceptible or otherwise high-risk zones as identified by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and concerned barangays.
Residents in these areas are ordered to move to designated evacuation centers or safer locations as directed by authorities.
The order said all evacuation centers shall ensure safety, sanitation, and basic services, prioritize vulnerable groups such as children, elderly, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) reported that its personnel are currently implementing forced evacuation in the low-lying areas of Purok 7-1, Barangay 18A, Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental.
“We have dispatched our Volunteer Emergency Response Vehicle (VERV) along with a dedicated six-man team to assist in the operations,” PRC said.
At least 38 individuals have been evacuated as of morning on Thursday, February 5, and were transported to Barangay 18A Elementary School.
