Sea voyages from Cebu City are cancelled on Thursday, February 5, 2026 in preparation for the possible impact of Tropical Storm Basyang.
At least 632 passengers got stranded in Cebu City, as of this writing, based on data from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Central Cebu.
GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak checked Cebu City Pier 1 where most of the foreign tourists stranded are headed supposedly for Bohol.
Their trips were stalled as the PCG has cancelled the voyages of all types of marine vessels to areas placed under public storm signal.
Despite the dismay, the tourists acknowledged that the mitigation measure is meant to avoid sea mishaps. They went back to their respective hotels, or places of accommodation.
Among them is Joanna Włodarczak from Poland who is with her family on a vacation.
Meanwhile, a tourist from Germany bound for Siquijor, but who has to travel via Bohol, expressed sadness over missing an important event.
In a telephone interview with Captain Jerome Lozada, commander of Coast Guard Central Cebu, he underscored that they seek to ensure the safety of passengers, thus the stringent protocol on sea travel in areas under certain Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals.
