The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) suspended voyages in Panay Island. However, fiber boats from the Parola Wharf bound for Guimaras and vice versa were allowed to travel on  50-percent capacity only.

"Mag-abide sila sa ating inisyu na travel advisory para ma-maintain ang kanilang safety at security during this typhoon season,” said Ensign Marvince Genzola, spokesperson of Coast Guard District Western Visayas.

Panay Island and Guimaras are placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Number 1, effective 8 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

As of this writing, over 700 passengers and at least 170 rolling cargoes are stranded in Western Visayas, according to the PCG.

Earlier, a few passengers arrived at Dumangas Port for their trips, only to learn of the cancellation of trips.

However, passengers said they will wait for the next advisory, citing possible chances to travel.

“Maghihintay kasi baka ma-declare na magbiyahe. May lamay sana kami. Sa Linggo ang libing,” Warlito Gumban, a standed passenger, said.

Another stranded passenger, Mila Margarejo, said she hopes for a chance to pursue travel.

“Hindi naman namin alam na stranded. Uuwi na lang kami kung wala pa talaga," Margarejo said.

The Local Government Unit of Iloilo City provided assistance to at least 62 stranded passengers at the Fort San Pedro Ferry Terminal.

Based on PAGASA forecast, Tropical Storm Basyang is expected to pass over the region on Friday afternoon, February 6, to Saturday, February 7.

However, rainfall is expected by early morning on February 6.

“Posible na siyang maging malakas prior sa landfall sa Surigao del Sur. It is because favorable ang init natin sa kadagatan. Medyo nag-increase ang strength ng bagyo," Rolly Cuenca, PAGASA-Iloilo weather forecaster, said.

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) 6 focuses tightly on residents in high risk-prone areas.

Based on Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA), the storm is expected to affect 509 families or 2,543 individuals.
