Police seized logs worth more than P300,000 and arrested nine men during an anti-illegal logging operation in Santa Marcela town, Apayao, authorities said.
Police said officers caught the suspects in the act of hauling and loading the logs onto a dump truck in Barangay Sipa. The suspects failed to show documents proving the logs were sourced legally.
The men arrested were placed under the custody of the Santa Marcela police. Authorities said they will face charges for violating the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines.
The suspects did not issue any statement.
