Parked vehicles, mostly trucks, spanned over a kilometer-long in line in southern Cebu morning on Friday, February 6, 2026 as sea voyages have been suspended.
Central and southern portions of Cebu Province are placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Number 2.
The vehicles are bound for Mindanao, while others are for Negros Oriental.
Sea trips have been suspended as Tropical Depression Basyang is expected to make a third landfall in southern Cebu.
Basyang, as a tropical storm, made its first landfall in Bayabas, Surigao del Sur at 11:50 p.m. on February 5. Its second landfall, as a tropical depression, was made over Bilar, Bohol at around 1 p.m. on February 6.
Sea voyages were cancelled since February 4, past 11 p.m., until further notice.
At Mainit Port in Oslob, stranded drivers and their truck assistants while away the hours. They were supposed to travel to Dapitan City and Dipolog City in Zamboanga del Norte.
While most of the trucks do not have cargoes at all, such as fish carriers where vats are already empty, the driver of a vehicle loaded with dressed chicken makes sure that its refrigerated van is operational, citing chicken is quick to perish if mishandled.
“Wa tay mahimo kay bagyo man, ana gyud na basta biyahero…ginatutokan ko man paandar ang freezer, may sarili man sad nang engine ba. Kun malangan tubilan, oo tunga pa man ang krudo, daghan pa,” Marlo Mayordomo, a stranded driver, said.
Glenn Logagay, a truck assistant, said he is sad to be away from his family while a storm is brewing.
“Maguol pod ta uy, atong pamilya tua sa layo, unsaon naa man ta diri. Tawag-tawag lang ta sa pamilya,” Logagay said.
An elementary school in Santander accommodated at least 14 stranded passengers at the Liloan Port bound for Negros Oriental.
The barangay provided free food and coffee to the stranded passengers.
“Naay mga mo-insist didto lang sila or mo-check in lang kay naa man mga resort ka-check-inan, mostly man gud ana kung walay biyahe, ang mauna ana ang stranded, unya ang nga local sab, unya pa sila kay maglantaw sila sa sitwasyon sa bagyo,” said Barangay Councilman Leoner Binondo.
In Boljoon, personnel of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office activated their public address system to share weather advisories.
