Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro cut short her official trip in Fujian, China to inspect the situation in the province under public storm signal due to Tropical Depression (TD) Basyang.

Baricuatro inspected major waterways such as Mananga River in Talisay City that overflowed in November 2025 when Typhoon Tino unleashed its fury.

The governor visited Mananga River morning on Friday, February 6, 2026. The water has not reached critical level, but the color has become murky which bothered Baricuatro.

Mananga River overflowed on November 4, 2025, claimed lives, and devastated structures.

The Provincial Government has declared the area as a No-Build Zone, but the governor would want to ensure that residents nearby are safe.

Baricuatro is supposed to return to Cebu by Sunday, February 8 yet, but because of her duties to constituents, she decided to cut the trip short.

After Talisay City, she proceeded to other cities and towns south of Cebu, and on to southern Cebu.

As of this writing, the Provincial Government has not recorded any untoward incident in line with the weather disturbance.

Food and other forms of relief assistance are being prepositioned, as of posting time.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) has embarked on a 24-hour monitoring at its new Command Center in Barangay Apas, Cebu City; its services getting a boost through state-of-the-art equipment.
