At least five people were reported dead after Tropical Depression #BasyangPH caused massive flooding in Iligan City on Friday, February 6, 2026.
The fatalities were residents of Barangays Tubod, Tambacan, Saray, and Abuno.
The latest fatality was identified as a pedicab driver from Purok Manuang, Barangay Tubod.
Meanwhile, clearing operations have been intensified, particularly in areas affected by flooding and landslides.
In Barangay Mahayahay, personnel from various government agencies continue clearing debris and mud along the national highway.
In an advisory issued on Saturday, February 7, 2026, the Department of Public Works and Highways-Northern Mindanao (DPWH-10) announced that the S01378MN – Misamis Oriental–Ma. Cristina Boundary Road, Tubod Bridge 1 (K1526+331) in Barangay Tubod has been closed temporarily.
DPWH-10 said the road is impassable to all types of vehicles, as of this writing, due to ongoing declogging activities on canals and waterways, as well as continuous road clearing operations to ensure public safety.
Motorists are advised to take Iligan City Diversion Road (C3 Road) and Tambacan Bridge as alternate routes.
Barangay Poblacion Chairman Anthony Pacaña said nearly 80 percent of his constituents were affected, including several business establishments.
“Karon we are still in the process of accounting sa atong mga establishments how many numbers how much is the cost na mga affected, so the team is on the process of gathering information,” Pacaña said.
Currently, the barangay is prioritizing the needs of residents affected while owners of business establishments are urged to coordinate with the local government, as the barangay alone can no longer handle the extent of the damage caused by the storm.
A state of calamity has been declared in the city due to the effects of #BasyangPH.
Authorities said nearly 4,000 families or more than 19,000 individuals were affected and are taking shelter temporarily in 26 evacuation centers.
