Government work and classes in the Province of Northern Samar were ordered suspended on Monday, February 9, 2026 due to the shear line, based on recommendation made by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC).
"Upon the recommendation of the PDRRMC, Governor Harris Ongchuan has ordered the suspension of work in government offices and classes in public and private schools today, February 9, 2026, due to inclement weather brought about by the shear line affecting the province," the Provincial Government announced.
However, offices providing essential services will "continue to operate, while work suspension in private offices is left at the discretion of employers, taking into consideration the safety and welfare of their employees."
Personnel of the Department of Public Works and Highways conducted a clearing operation in Barangay Somoge, along the Catarman-Lope de Vega-Calbayog Road in Northern Samar, to remove debris and make the road accessible to all types of vehicles after soil eroded, morning on February 9, due to heavy rainfall dumped by the shear line.
