Three siblings were found bloodied inside their residence in Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City, Negros Occidental.
One of the children was pronounced dead, while two were wounded.
The father of the victims said he found his children: nine-year-old “Desiree,” four-year-old “Charles,” and 15-year-old “Dyesebel” bathed in blood morning on February 7, 2026.
The mother of the children is an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in the Middle East, while their father, 50-year-old Edmund Bornales, works at a sugarcane plantation as an “engkargado,” or an overseer.
Bornales said the house was unusually quiet when he arrived, which made him wonder.
“Nagtaka ako bakit parang ang tahimik sa bahay parang walang tao sa loob. Dala ko ang bigas sa aking motorsiklo at pinapasok ko na lang. Pagpasok ko sa kwarto, ang mga anak ko, nakahandusay, puro sugatan,” Bornales said.
He said he asked for help from neighbors immediately.
The victims were rushed to the hospital but “Desiree” expired there, while “Dyesebel” is in critical condition. "Charles" is reported to be in stable condition.
According to a few neighbors, they have not heard of any commotion as heavy rain poured from evening of February 6 to dawn of February 7.
"Malakas ang ulan, grabe ang lakas noong oras na iyon,” Geana Gregore, a neighbor, said.
"May kantahan kasi doon at malakas ang sound. Parang hindi kami makakain sa nangyari. Palagi kasi sila dito sa bahay,” Gina, another neighbor, said.
Two huge rocks at the crime scene are believed used to bash the victims, based on investigation done by the Special Investigation Team created by the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Negros Island Region (NIR).
“If a stone will be used as a weapon to injure a person, it will lead to death especially sa ulo,” Lt. Col. Joem Malong, spokesperson of PRO-NIR, said.
An elder sister of the victims, "Cristen," who is living separately, and was not around during the incident, calls for justice.
"Hindi siya tao. Demonyo siya, ang may gawa nito sa mga kapatid ko. Paano mo ito nagawa?” Cristen said.
Police said they are focusing tightly on persons of interest, but did not provide additional details on them.
Test results determined that no sexual abuse was committed to the two girls.
Their mother has arrived, as of this writing, from the Middles East.
However, she declined an interview with GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas.
