Six people were killed in a collision involving a truck and a motorcycle in Valencia City, Bukidnon on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

Based on investigation, the motorcycle was reportedly heading to Barangay Lilingayon while the truck was traveling downhill in the opposite direction.

Upon reaching a curved portion of the road in Barangay Lurugan, the truck allegedly lost its brakes and crashed into the motorcycle. It then veered to the right and crashed into the fences of several houses by the road.

Because of the impact, several passengers of the truck and the motorcycle were thrown off.

“Then pag-abot nila sa tunga-tunga ang kining truck allegedly nawalaan og brake ug napaingon didto sa linya sa maong motorsiklo and after that nikambyada kini pa tuo ug didto nahibanga sa usa ka panimalay,” Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) Spokesperson, Major Joann Navarro, said.

All victims were rushed to the hospital, where four passengers of the truck were declared dead. The rider and his companion and three other passengers of the truck were injured seriously.

The following day, however, authorities confirmed that the rider and one of the injured truck passengers have died, bringing the total number of fatalities to six.

It was learned that the passengers of the truck were workers from a pineapple plantation.

“Kining mga truck gyud, dili gyud na siya designed nga pagasakyan… any passenger ilabi na sa likod nga bahin, even gani kaning mga pickup truck nga gagmay, dili gihapon na designed nga pagasakyan ang likod kay that is hazard kana o risgo,” Navarro added.

The truck driver was taken into police custody after the incident but was released on Monday, February 9, 2026, after all parties reportedly reached an agreement.
