A total of 21 Local Government Units (LGUs), including Bacolod City, suspended face-to-face classes on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 due to the shear line.
Several areas in Negros Occidental experienced inclement weather since the weekend and on to February 9.
Based on monitoring of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), the Cities of Silay and Talisay are areas most affected by the inclement weather.
“Kahapon may na-record tayo na flooding incidents sa Silay at Talisay. Sana sundin natin ang local authorities na mag-conduct ng preemptive evacuation," according to Bryll Larry Sañor, deputy chief of Negros Occidental PDRRMO's Operations Center.
Floodwater reached above-knee level in Barangay Zone 2, Talisay City, on February 9.
“Ang bilis pumasok sa bahay namin,” Riza, a resident affected by the flooding, said. “Bumaba na nga kami para hindi na ma-trap,” according to Jocelyn Acot, another resident.
The barangay has prepared the gym as an evacuation area.
“Ang ating covered court open siya…alert tayo ngayon kasi baka biglang tumaas ang tubig at mag-high tide," Barangay Zone 2 Chairman Moses Pabon said.
