Police are focused tightly on two persons of interest in the death of a child and the wounding of her two siblings in Silay City, Negros Occidental.
The siblings were found bloodied inside their residence in Barangay E. Lopez morning on February 7, 2026.
Rocks were found in the crime scene, believed used by the culprits in bashing the heads of the victims.
The siblings are “Charles,” four years old; “Desiree,” nine years old; and “Dyesebel,” 15 years old.
Two persons are being investigated by members of a special investigation team.
The team cited that the victims could have been familiar with the perpetrators.
“Hindi pa ma-divulge kasi it’s an essential part ng investigation natin. Isa sa hinihintay natin is ang statement of the victim [one of the victims] regarding sa nangyari sa kanya,” said Lt. Col. Joem Malong, spokesperson of Police Regional Office (PRO) Negros Island Region.
The team awaits a statement from “Dyesebel,” who is yet in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
“Charles” has been confirmed to be in stable condition already, while “Desiree” was pronounced dead.
The mother of the victims arrived in Silay City from Riyadh on February 9, where she is an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW).
She was with Atty. Patricia Yvonne Caunan of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
The mother went straight to the hospital upon arrival.
“Inuwi po natin ang nanay ng mga bata from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Pagdating sa Manila, diniretso natin sa Silay City,” Caunan said.
“Because she wanted to see and monitor the condition sang iya duha ka mga kabataan,” Rizza Joy Moldes, OWWA 6 director, said.
The Local Government Unit of Silay City has vowed to assist the family.
“Ang babaeng biktima, kagabi, inoperahan sa ulo. Nasa ICU siya ngayon. Napakalungkot ng ganitong pangyayari,” said Silay City Mayor Joedith Gallego.
