An employee of the provincial government of Davao del Sur was arrested during a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Zone 1, Digos City.

The suspect is a 59-year-old employee of the construction division of the Provincial Engineer’s Office.

The Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) considered the suspect as a high value individual in the illegal drug trade.

Seized from the suspect were sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 10 grams worth around P68,000.

The operation was launched following continuous monitoring after three provincial capitol employees tested positive for illegal drug use earlier.

“Nagsugod man gud ni siya katong adunay nag-positive nga tulo kabuok sa Capitol. Then, ang amoang maabtikon nga Gov. Yvonne Cagas ug Vice Gov. Marc Cagas, nagmando sa amoa nga palawman, imbestigahan nganong ingon ato. Ni-come out ni siya nga pangalan nga mao’y isa sa napalitan nianing uban nga nag-positive,” PDEU PIU Deputy Chief, Capt. Diosdado Niones II, said.

Authorities said the suspect was allegedly distributing illegal drugs for quite some time. He allegedly supplied around 10 to 15 grams of shabu every week in several barangays.

The illegal drugs were reportedly sourced from Cotabato.

The suspect is now detained and is facing charges for alleged violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (RA 9165).

SEPARATE OPS

Meanwhile, members of the Provincial Intelligence Unit and other police units in the province served a search warrant against a man allegedly in possession of a firearm in Barangay Colorado.

Police said the suspect allegedly issued fake pedicab franchises to his clients while working as a fixer, and when his clients failed to pay their obligations, he would allegedly intimidate them with a firearm.

“Kaning tawhana, naga-fixer siya og pedicab diri sa Digos City and finding out nga ang kanang ginahatag niya sa iyang mga client kay fake nga franchise. Kini nga mga client niya, kapag dili dayon makabayad sa ilahang obligasyon kunuhay sa iyaha, iyahang ginahuraw, ginapakitaan niya og baril, ginabunut-bunotan niya og baril,” Niones said.

Seized from the suspect was a caliber .38 revolver and ammunition without documents.

The suspect will face charges for alleged violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (RA 10591).
