Around 100 houses were razed to the ground after a fire hit a residential area in Sitio Malamboon, Barangay 76-A, Davao City on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

The fire broke out around 3 a.m. and was raised to third alarm after two hours.

Firefighters had difficulty putting the fire out due to strong winds and narrow roads.

The fire also spread quickly as most of the houses affected were made of light materials.

Firefighters also rescued several dogs trapped inside burning houses.

The fire was put out around 7 a.m.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), more than 500 individuals were affected.

“Tulog na mi unya tapos naay nishagit nga sunog… sunog mao to nibaba ko sa amoa, nakakita ko nagsiga na ni. Mao to dali ra kaayo nikatay ang kayo,” a resident affected, Aimee Chaves, said.

“Paspas uy kay sa permiro pa lang nakita nako diha paggawas nako, kanang 2nd floor anang gikan sa gisunugan, sa 2nd floor mao pa lang toy nagasiga unya pagpukaw nako sa akong boarders, mga silingan diri, akong manghod dira akong gipukaw, pagbalik nako dako na ang sunog,” another resident, Rolito Paunon, added.

The damage was estimated at P500,000. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.

Personnel of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) also responded to the area to assist affected families.
