A farmer rescued a weak Philippine hawk-eagle found in a rice field in Barangay Suklayin, Baler, Auror, helping save the rare bird and turning it over to authorities for care.

The farmer temporarily brought the eagle to their home on February 7, 2026, and reported the incident to the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office.

The bird was turned over later to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for proper handling and treatment.

According to the agency, veterinarians will examine the eagle and officials will release it back into the wild once it is healthy and strong enough.
