Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr., warned that the police director of Davao del Sur may be relieved from his post if the killing of a barangay chairman in Digos City remains unsolved.

Nartatez expressed hope that the killing of Barangay Tres De Mayo Chairman, Oscar Bucol Jr., will be resolved as investigation continues, as of this writing.

Bucol was shot dead while he was live on Facebook evening on November 25, 2025.

Nartatez said he may order the relief of the provincial director if the case will not be resolved.

“Shall we give timeline for the solution? Huwag nating bigyan ng timeline kasi, ipa-relieve na lang natin… kung gusto natin ang provincial director… kung hindi pa masolba,” Nartatez said.

Nartatez reiterated his order to intensify investigative efforts.

“Regional Director, ensure to employ your investigative solution not only to this case. And I have a track on that, malapit na ‘yan,” Nartatez added.

The country’s top cop also urged those who have knowledge about the incident to coordinate with authorities.

A reward of P5 million from various individuals is being offered for information leading to the identity and arrest of the perpetrators.

GMA Regional TV One Mindanao is reaching out to Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office director, Col. Leo Ajero and the special investigation task group for a statement, as of this writing.
