The provincial government of Surigao del Sur is set to give P5.5 million in cash assistance for 850 households whose houses were destroyed and damaged during the onslaught of #BasyangPH.

In a Facebook post, Governor Johnny Pimentel said the provincial government is already processing the financial assistance.

Based on data, at least 230 houses were destroyed while 620 others were damaged partially, as of February 10, 2026.

The number may still increase as road clearing operations continue and access to isolated communities improves for further validation.

Meanwhile, relief distribution continues for families affected by the calamity.

The provincial government said 16 out of 19 local government units have already distributed up to 71,019 food packs, equivalent to 83 percent of the 85,919 affected families.

The provincial government added that the first batch of 30,000 food pack augmentation has arrived evening on Tuesday and is set to be deployed on Wednesday.

Requests for non-food items such as kitchen kits, hygienge kits, and sleeping kits have also been submitted to the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Caraga (DSWD-13).
