Authorities have launched an investigation into two separate bullying incidents involving two female students in Cagayan de Oro City.

The first incident happened inside a restroom of an establishment across the Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School (MOGCHS) on Velez Street.

Video footage showed a female student being slapped, grabbed, and had her hair pulled by another student. Another girl was also captured on video passing by and smiling beside the victim while she was being slapped.

The video went viral online after it was uploaded by the victim’s sibling who is now calling for justice.

MOGCHS school head, Dr. Melende Catid, clarified that the bullying did not happen inside the campus and is now being investigated.

“They (parents of both parties) have been given an invitation by the respective advisers and also the Guidance Counselor and also my grievance committee chair also,” Catid said.

Catid added that the school has yet to determine the exact reason behind the incident but assured that the incident is being taken seriously.

The school official also assured that possible psychological interventions will be provided to all students involved.

Meanwhile, another female student in school uniform was attacked by the road in Barangay Lapasan.

A video showed several girls teasing and pulling the victim’s hair before ganging up on her and pushing her to the ground.

The suspects fled after the assault along with the person who recorded the video.

According to the barangay council, some of those involved are residents of the barangay. Some are students of Lapasan National High School (LNHS) while others are also studying at MOGCHS.

Barangay officials have already summoned the students involved, their parents, and school representatives.

Barangay spokesperson Jeoffrey Baconga said the barangay is looking into possible underlying issues, including problems at home, that may have contributed to the incident.

“Maybe kaning victim o kaning mga suspek sa bullying might have some issues sa ilang panimalay like kanang abused by their parents muna among gipatawag dinhi ni Kapitan, BCPC, VAWC atoang Brgy. Executive Support and Legal Affairs Office,” Baconga said.

The student government of LNHS has condemned the bullying incident involving their fellow students.
