A fire that reached the third alarm gutted an auto supply shop in Manaoag, Pangasinan evening on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, destroying auto parts and damaging a parked vehicle, authorities said.

The blaze broke out around 8 p.m. at an auto supply shop in Barangay Poblacion. Firefighters battled the flames for nearly four hours before declaring a fire-out.

Most of the auto parts inside the shop were destroyed. An owner-type jeep parked in front of the establishment was also damaged.

Initial investigation by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) indicated that the fire started at the back portion of the shop where used oil and auto lubricants were stored. The shop owner had reportedly been home for about an hour when the fire erupted.

SFO1 Karen Grace Batistiana, investigator at BFP-Manaoag, said authorities are still examining several possible causes.

“Marami tayong tinitingnan na dahilan dito pero ang pinaka mabigat ay ’yung pinagmulan ng sunog na mga auto-lubricant kasi,” Batistiana said.

She noted that such materials are highly flammable and may cause the fire to spread or reignite.

“Alam naman natin na ’yung substance na po na ’yun ay talagang mag cause ng fire at mag rekindle,” she said.

Firefighters from neighboring towns assisted in putting out the blaze as it spread quickly, authorities said.

The cause of the fire and the estimated damage have yet to be determined. The shop owner declined to issue a statement as the investigation continues.

Relatives of the owner are guarding the site to prevent possible looting while authorities complete their probe.
