The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) confirmed of an ash emission event on Mount Kanlaon from 1:10 p.m. to 1:13 p.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026.

An ashfall affected at least five barangays in Bago City and La Carlota City in Negros Occidental, according to PHIVOLCS.

An ashfall was reported on February 14, 2026, seen as an effect of an ash emission event on February 13 that spanned 17 minutes.

Residents near the volcano have been reminded once more to be extra cautious as an explosive eruption remains possible.

"Since marami pa ring na-record na volcanic earthquakes base rin sa sulfur dioxide na na-measure natin, posible pa rin na magkaroon ng explosive eruption (ang) Kanlaon,” said Daryl Aro, Science and Research specialist at Kanlaon Volcano Observatory.

Alert Level 2, or intensified unrest, prevails over Kanlaon Volcano.
